El “semestrebelga” estarácondicionadopor lacoyunturaelectoral conlaseleccionesalParlamentoEuropeo(6-9de junio). Bajo el lema “Un sector agroalimentario y pesquero sostenible y resiliente”, Bélgica resume sus objetivos en el ámbito agroalimentario y explica que el principalfinesgarantizar laseguridadyautonomíaalimentariade laUE, para loquepromoverá la reducciónde ladependenciadepaíses terceros sobre recursosestratégicosyaseguraráel seguimientoefectivode la implementación de laPACy la política pesquera. Con respecto a laPAC, laPresidencia belga iniciará nuevas reflexiones sobre un marco futuro posterior a 2027, según recoge el apartado sobre el sector agroalimentariodel programade lapresidencia, consultadoporFEPEX. Asimismo, trabajará enmonitorizar los mercados agrícolas y abordar las cuestiones comerciales relacionadas con la agricultura. Transparencia de la cadena alimentaria Bélgica se compromete también a velar por la igualdadde condiciones, la armonización de la legislación y el fomento de la seguridad y la transparencia en toda la cadena alimentaria. Destaca también que su objetivo es cerrar la propuesta legislativa relativa a las denominadas “Directivas del desayuno” y “proseguir los debates sobre las nuevas técnicas genómicas, el uso sostenible de productos fitosanitarios y la produccióny comercializacióndemateriales de reproducciónvegetal”. Otrosobjetivos son invitar a losEstadosmiembrosacompartirbuenasprácticas sobre la producción sostenible de alimentos, trabajar en la promoción de opciones de comida saludable y promover un debate sobre los sistemas de etiquetado frontal voluntarios en diferentes Estados miembros, como a nivel nacional, ya que Bélgica celebrará también el 9 de junio sus elecciones federales y regionales. 2024 será, además, un año marcadamente electoral alrededor del mundo, con elecciones en otros cinco Estados miembros y en EE.UU., entre otros, según recoge el Informe de ladelegaciónante laUEde la CEOE, de la que FEPEXesmiembro. Under themotto “Asustainableandresilient agri-foodandfishing industry”, Belgiumsummarizes its targets in the agri-food field and explains that the mainpurpose is toguarantee the food securityandautonomyof theEU, for which it will promote the reduction of dependence on non EU-countries regarding strategic resources and will ensure effective monitoring of the implementation of the CAP and the fisheries policy. With respect to the CAP, the Belgian Presidencywill begin newreflections on a future framework after 2027, according to the section on the agri-food industry of the presidency’s program, consultedbyFEPEX. Additionally, it will work onmonitoring agricultural markets and addressing trade issues related to agriculture. Food chain transparency Belgium is also committed to ensuring a level playing field, harmonizing legislation and promoting safety and transparency throughout the food chain. It also highlights that its goal is to close the legislative proposal relating to the so-called “Breakfast Directives” and “continue debates on new genomic techniques, the sustainable use of phytosanitary products and the production andmarketing of plant reproductivematerials.” Other targets are to invite Member States to share good practices on sustainablefoodproduction,workonthepromotionofhealthyfoodoptions and promote a debate on voluntary front labeling schemes in different Member States, as well as at national level, as Belgium will also hold its federal and regional elections on June 9. Besides, 2024 will be a significant electoral year around theworld, with elections infive othermember states and in the USA, among others, according to the Report of the delegation to the EUof the CEOE, of which FEPEX is amember.
