En el primer ámbito se promocionan los servicios al buque, teniendo en cuenta las ventajas de la Bahía de Algeciras, sus fondeaderos y el nivel de servicio y especialización de su Comunidad Portuaria. Y, en el segundo, Algeciras se presenta como puerto con gran potencial para el desarrollo de escalas turísticas, sobre todo para cruceros de mediano porte y cruceros de expedición. A nivel de infraestructuras el muelle de Isla Verde, en Algeciras, es el más adecuado para este tipo de escalas, por sus características y su cercanía al Acceso Central que conecta con la ciudad. En este sentido, se está trabajando para impulsar las capacidades turísticas de un entorno estratégico como es el Estrecho de Gibraltar. NAVIERAS QUE OPERAN ACTUALMENTE EN EL PUERTO No recibe escalas de crucero con regularidad. La última escala turística fue de la naviera Noble Caledonia. LO MÁS ATRACTIVO DE SU DESTINO ES… Destaca el potencial turístico de la zona del Campo de Gibraltar con áreas muy atractivas para los turistas como son los municipios de Tarifa o Sotogrande, en San Roque. La posibilidad de navegar en el Estrecho de Gibraltar, realizar avistamiento de cetáceos o de aves migratorias, sus parques naturales, playas o campos de golf son los principales atractivos de esta comarca gaditana, que ofrece además una variada gastronomía y numerosos vestigios históricos de su pasado. X INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CRUISE SHIPS The cruise services offered by the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) must be understood from a double business perspective: as a home port for technical calls and as a port with potential for tourist calls. In the first area, ship services are promoted, taking into account the advantages of the Bay of Algeciras, its anchoring areas and the level of service and specialization of its Port Community. Secondly, Algeciras is a port with considerable potential for tourist calls, especially for medium-sized cruise ships and expedition cruises. In terms of infrastructures, the Isla Verde Quay, in Algeciras, is the best suited to this type of port call, due to its characteristics and its proximity to the Central Access which leads to the city. In this sense, work is being done to boost the tourist capacities of a strategic area such as the Straits of Gibraltar. The Alcaidesa Marina facilities are particularly interesting for the nautical industry, with more than 600 berths for boats, ranging from eight to 90 meters in length, and a fully equipped dry dock. MAIN ATTRACTIONS The Campo de Gibraltar area has great potential with many tourist attractions such as the municipalities of Tarifa and Sotogrande, in San Roque. Sailing in the Straits of Gibraltar, whale and bird watching, nature parks, beaches and golf courses are the main attractions of this region in Cadiz, which also offers diverse cuisine and numerous historical monuments.
