Its Atlantic location, the quality of the products handled and the capacity of the fleets to work with all types of fishing tackle make it a highly versatile port. The epicentre is the fish market. This new facility, located in the city centre, was constructed 18 years ago as a result of a need for a larger building. The new market has a usable area of more than 30,000 square metres, and is divided into long, compartmentalised sections to meet the industry’s requirements. Some of the most important catches include crayfish, goose barnacles, anchovies, hake, horse mackerel, sardines and mackerel.
