TRAFFIC Spanish ports are gradually recovering from the crisis caused by the pandemic. An example of this is the 12.11 million tonnes of fruit, vegetables and pulses handled in 2021 by Spanish ports, which represented growth of 0.44% compared with 2020 and 0.64% compared with 2019, according to the data provided by the Stateowned Ports Body. However, although in general terms fruit and vegetable throughput did increase last year, not all ports have fully recovered. In total, 12 port authorities remain below their prepandemic levels. On theflip side of the coin is the Port of Algeciras which, with a throughput of 5.73 million tonnes in 2021, recorded growth of 6.69% in comparison with 2020 and 20.96% in comparison with 2019.
