CARGAS PROYECTO 2023

THE LEADING PROJECTCARGOEVENT LOLI DOLZ Director Diario del Puerto Publications Rotterdam today is the capital of the project cargo, heavylift and conventional cargo industry as it hosts the Breakbulk Europe trade fair. Project cargo specialists from all over the world come together to do business at an event that has become a showcase for new developments and a hub for debating and analysing market trends, the industry and its value chain. In this sense, experts will be discussing the current state of the industry and the challenges facing producers and logistics operators in this sector, which has regained its footing on conventional routes after a stressful, tense 2021, and is being driven by everything related to the quest for economic and social sustainability (green technologies and energies). It should not be forgotten that one of the biggest project cargo markets is energy and the markets associated with sustainability (renewable energies, wind turbines, production of components and construction of wind farms, green technologies, recycling, water treatment, etc.), which is experiencing a boom. Spain is very well represented at the event with many ports, terminals, shipping companies and specialised freight forwarders taking part, thus confirming that the Spanish project cargo industry has an excellent international reputationand is represented by leading names that operate inmarkets all over the world and are considered a benchmark for any type of operation. In fact, during the last few years, Spanish ports have seen an increase in the throughput of this type of goods. Wind turbine blades, metal structures and offshore platforms are gaining in importance. With more than twenty kilometres of quays dedicated to roll-on/rolloff cargo, another 45 kilometres used for multi-purpose traffic, and more than 300 cranes with the capacity to handle almost any type of cargo, Spanish ports have demonstrated their capacity to deal with the logistics management of this type of cargo. However, ports cannot sell this quality of service without the quayside and shore-side operators who coordinate cargo. Therefore, the participation of stevedoring, shipping and forwarding companies is essential to ensure the success of each of these operations. Diario del Puerto Publicaciones is launching a new edition of its unique breakbulk and project cargo publication which analyses the main facts, figures and forecasts of the industry as well as featuring the views of its experts. In addition, the book includes Who’s Who in Logistics in Spain - Project Cargo to complement its contents and add extra value. Finally, it is worth remembering that the bilingual edition of the publication will be distributed at Breakbulk Europe 2023, the industry’s leading event, to boost its outreach. We hope you enjoy reading it.
