El confinamiento provocado por la pandemia y el consiguiente auge del comercio electrónico ha provocado un crecimiento importante del transporte de última milla. Según datos de la Agencia Internacional de la Energía, el transporte de mercancías es el responsable del 10% de las emisiones globales de CO2, pero en España esa cifra es aún mayor, debido al gran peso que tienen en la cadena de suministro los vehículos a motor. La Comisión Europea se ha fijado el objetivo de reducir un 90% las emisiones de CO2 del transporte en 2050, para ello es indispensable avanzar hacia modelos logísticos sostenibles y digitalizados, que ponderen la sostenibilidad como un valor en sí mismo. To achieve this, it is essential to move towards sustainable and digital transformation of logistics models, which prioritise sustainability. The transport industry accounts for 27.5% of total greenhouse gas emissions in Spain, although in the EU the percentage is somewhat lower, and the European Commission is aware of the need to tackle this problem.
