Sostenibilidad e Innovación - Sustainability and Innovation 47 TRENDS FOR LOGISTICS IN 2030 With the help of AI and big data, technologies and their applications are constantly improving, with better and more powerful computers, better security technology and better coordination. In its ”Logistics Trend Radar 6.0” report, DHL makes three predictions. According to the German logistics multinational, networking could become a supergrid that integrates as many supply chain networks as possible worldwide and further increases transparency. Secondly, 3D printing technology is still considered by many to be a gimmick. However, it could well be the production method of the future. As the technology advances andmatures, its acceptance in the automotive, medical and aerospace industries has expanded to include larger batch sizes and a wider range of objects and materials. And finally, at some point, perhaps as early as the next decade, autonomous delivery vehicles may become a reality, not only in logistics centres, but also on the road. Alongside the perennial watchwords of digital transformation and sustainability, resilience is the key word in logistics for 2023. After the tension caused by the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, supply chains were again subjected to a severe stress test in 2022, and not all of them stood up to it. What might initially have been considered a temporary pandemic-related phenomenon unfortunately turned out to be permanent: vulnerable supply chains. Increasing their resilience is this year’s challenge. On the positive side, digital, sustainable and resilient measures work together and reinforce each other. Introducing new technologies also helps to master the huge ongoing task of reconciling logistics with respect for the environment, without jeopardising the profitability of logistics companies. The economic turmoil continues and the decisive factor is to play a positive role in working with it. Autonomous delivery vehicles may become a reality as early as the next decade.
