The Port of Huelva, which is on the Atlantic Corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network, has excellent road and regular rail connectivity with Seville, Madrid, Burgos, Extremadura, and Portugal, as well as shipping links with the Canary Islands, West Africa, Northern Europe and Latin America, making it a highly relevant player in the global logistics chains of temperature-controlled goods. FACTS AND FIGURES The Port of Huelva has experienced a significant increase in general cargo traffic in recent years, with a 65% growth rate in the last five years. Ro-ro cargo is particularly significant, increasing by 254% in the last four years and by 27% in 2022, which means that over 30,000 ITUs were handled last year, i.e., over 2,500 units per month, with a 23% increase in fruit, vegetables, and pulses. SERVICES AND PROJECTS The South Quay has excellent connectivity and has received significant investment in infrastructures and equipment to provide services to general cargo traffic, with various specific and specialised facilities for each of the links that make up the cold logistics chain. The Port of Huelva is committed to the fishing sector and fish and seafood exporters for marketing the area’s fish products, such as the prestigious Huelva white shrimp.
