Puertos - Ports 61 TRAFFIC Although the segmented data from Spanish ports in 2022 have not yet been published, which would enable us to go intomore detail about fruit, vegetable and fishing throughput, what is clear is that, little by little, the vast majority of the country’s ports are gradually returning to the levels of traffic they had prior to the COVID pandemic. Although the 2022 figures are not in yet, it is worth remembering that Algeciras on the Straits of Gibraltar is the leading port in fruit and vegetable traffic with a 47% market share (5.7 million tonnes in 2021). This is followed by the port facilities of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandiawhich imported and exported over 200,000 TEUs of agri-food and meat products, handling 2.36 million tonnes of fruit, vegetables, and pulses alone, during 2021. The Port of Las Palmas has provided its figures and has confirmed that it handled around 1,206,245 tonnes of fruit, vegetables and pulses and frozen and refrigerated fish in 2022. The fourth port at the top of the list for this type of traffic is the Port of Barcelona, whose terminals handled a total of 278,000 refrigerated TEUs in 2021, five times more than ten years ago in 2011, when throughput was 56,000 TEUs. Both fruit and fish shipments exceeded 1.5 million tonnes. Mientras llegan esos datos, cabe recordar que la dársena del Estrecho es líder del sistema portuario nacional en tráfico hortofrutícola con un 47% de cuota mercado (5,7 millones de toneladas en 2021). Seguida por los recintos portuarios de Valencia, Sagunto y Gandía que gestionaron más de 200.000 TEUs de import-export de productos agroalimentarios y cárnicos, moviéndose 2,36 millones de toneladas solo en la partida de frutas, hortalizas y legumbres, durante el ejercicio 2021. Por su parte, el Puerto de Las Palmas avanza sus cifras y confirma que movió en 2022 un total estimado de 1.206.245 toneladas entre los grupos de frutas, hortalizas y legumbres y el de pescados congelados y refrigerados. El cuarto enclave en el TOP de este tipo de tráficos es el Port de Barcelona. Concretamente, las terminales del Port de Barcelona movieron en 2021 un total de 278.000 TEUs refrigerados, cinco veces más que diez años antes, en 2011, cuando este tráfico fue de 56.000 TEUs. En toneladas, se superaron los 1,5 millones de toneladas en ambas partidas: frutas y pesca.
