28 DIARIO DEL PUERTO MIÉRCOLES 5 FEBRERO 2025 El Puerto de la Bahía de Algeciras sigue marcando el ritmo de los tráficos hortofrutícolas en el conjunto del sistema portuario español, moviendo más de 4,5 millones de toneladas entre enero y noviembre de 2024. Los puertos gestionados por la Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia son los segundos del país con mayor volumen de este tipo de carga: en este período registraron un movimiento de 1,75 millones de toneladas en productos hortofrutícolas. Puertos de Las Palmas ocupa la tercera posición, con algo más de 1 millón de toneladas movidas, mientras que la Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife acumuló algo más de 530.000 toneladas. Cerrando el TOP 5 de los puertos españoles en este tráfico está el Port de Barcelona que movió 518.501 toneladas entre enero y noviembre del pasado año. A destacar que, de entre los cinco puertos que movieron más toneladas de productos hortofrutícolas entre enero y noviembre de 2024, solo Barcelona creció en tráficos respecto al mismo periodo de 2023. Refuerzo en la seguridad Para garantizar la competitividad de los puertos españoles y seguir liderando el tráfico de productos hortofrutícolas, el refuerzo de los controles de seguridad de entrada de estos productos en el mercado español es fundamental, ya que, tal y como indican desde Puertos del Estado, “por su naturaleza, son mercancías que deben ser sometidas a controles específicos enel momento de su introducción en la Unión Europea y antes de su despacho a libre práctica”. No obstante, tal y como reconocen desde Puertos del Estado, aún hay margen de mejora en este control de entrada, aunque “ya se está trabajando en coordinación con otras Administraciones Públicas para agilizarlos”. La oferta portuaria en materia de infraestructuras de control y seguridad se componen de las Instalaciones Fronterizas de Control deMercancías (IFCM) y los Puestos de Control Fronterizos (PCF), construidos y gestionados por las Autoridades Portuarias. Puertos del Estado considera vital el buen funcionamiento de esas infraestructuras dedicadas a la seguridad y control: “De la eficacia, eficiencia y agilidad de estos servicios, y la eliminación de trabas innecesarias a los operadores, depende en gran medida la competitividad portuaria y comercial de primer nivel, frente a puertos cercanos de otros Estados de la UE con similares costes logísticos a destino final del transporte”.
