INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CRUISE SHIPS The Port of Santander has a modern passenger terminal located in theheart of the city centre, which complieswith the strictest security requirements (ISPS). The surrounding areas have been renovated and the Port Authority has modernized the passenger terminal to enhance the services offered to cruise passengers. THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS OF THIS DESTINATION ARE... The Botin Centre, near the passenger terminal, which was inaugurated in 2017, is now fully operational. Within just half an hour of the port, visitors can enjoy the delights of a medieval town (Santillana del Mar), the Neocave of Altamira (with its 14,000 year old Palaeolithic paintings) and other prehistoric cave dwellings (UnescoWorld Heritage Site). There is also the Cabarceno Wildlife Park, with exotic animals in a semi-natural setting covering more than 750 hectares, as well as the small fishing village of Comillas and themountain landscapes of Barcena Mayor.
