MORE THAN AN OPTION, A NECESSITY Packaging is essential whenever a cargo needs to be protected against r isks such as shock, vibrat ion, humidi ty, dust or any other factor that may compromise its condi - tion during transport or storage, which is very often the case in Project Cargo. For example, in long-distance maritime transport, exposure to the marine environment, with its saltpetre, humidity or risk of condensation, can seriously damage the cargo if it is not well protected. It is also essential to correctly pack electrical or electronic equipment, which needs special protection against vibrations, dust or humidity. Another very common case is the transport of disassembled parts, such as turbines, valves or control panels; in these cases, packaging helps to keep everything organized and safe. As Mónica Jiménez comments, air or intermodal transport adds even more demands due to the amount of handling the cargo undergoes, and the same happens when it has to be stored for weeks or even months outdoors, waiting for the moment of assembly. ”In short, whenever there is even the slightest risk of the cargo losing its integrity, functionality or traceability, packaging is no longer an option but a necessity,” says the general manager of Tm2 Recipe Services. MÁS QUE UNA OPCIÓN, UNA NECESIDAD El embalaje es imprescindible siempre que una carga necesite estar protegida frente a riesgos como golpes, vibraciones, humedad, polvo o cualquier otro factor que pueda comprometer su estado durante el transporte o el almacenamiento, lo que ocurre con mucha frecuencia en el Project Cargo. Por ejemplo, en transportes marítimos de larga distancia, la exposición al ambiente marino, con su salitre, humedad o riesgo de condensaciones, puede dañar gravemente la carga si no está bien protegida. También es fundamental embalar correctamente los equipos eléctricos o electrónicos, que necesitan una protección especial frente a vibraciones, polvo o humedad. Otro caso muy habitual es en el transporte de piezas desmontadas, como turbinas, válvulas o cuadros de control; en estos casos, el embalaje ayuda a mantener todo organizado y seguro.
