13 CARGAS PROYECTO / PROJECT CARGO · 2025 GEOPOLITICAL INSTABILITY The progress of certain projects during 2024 has reinforced the role of the project manager as a key player in strategic sectors, ”especial ly in energy, infrastructure and industrial processes,” says Núria Díaz, Business Development Manager at Aprojects Spain, who adds that 2024 was marked by high geopol itical instabi l ity, the consequences of which have been felt throughout the value chain. He cites factors such as rising financial and insurance costs, the increasing fragmentation of international trade and increasingly complex regulatory and environmental requirements, which have led to a strategic review of many developments, ”directly affecting the execution of projects and requiring logistics operators to be more flexible and control risks”. ”In parallel,” she continues, ”we are witnessing the beginning of a partial offshoring of industrial production outside China, with countries such as India, Vietnam, Mexico and areas of Eastern Europe consolidating as competitive alternatives,” which marks a tenure that responds to the need to diversify geopolitical risk, local fiscal and industrial incentives, and the importance of making supply chains more resi l ient, whether through ”nearshoring” or ”friendshoring”. ”For Project Cargo, this scenario requires reconfiguring routes, capacities and logistics hubs with a strategic vision,” says Núria Díaz. GROWING SECTORS ”2024 has been a reasonably positive year for project cargo”. As per Ignacio Leira, TIBA’s Project Cargo Division Manager, the balance is influenced by the strong development of sectors such as renewable energies, infrastructure and construction projects, especially in emerging and developing countries that need to strengthen their infrastructure systems. On the challenges side, these have been motivated ”by the scarcity of qualified resources, the increase in operating costs and specific problems of transportation capacity”. Overall, in Leira’s view, 2025 will be a year of growth in several segments, with energy transition and infrastructure development as a ”key driver” for the Project Cargo industry in the coming years. According to Juan Castellano, Across Logistics’ outlook for 2025 is ”cautious but optimistic”, with the expected boost from projects linked to hydrogen, carbon capture and offshore wind energy. For Aprojects, the beginning of this 2025 continues along the line of growth that characterized last year, with strategic acquisitions, integration processes and territorial expansion, ”always with the objective of con- ”2024 HAS BEEN A GREAT YEAR FOR TIBA PROJECTS VERTICAL AND IN 2025 WE CONTINUE TO GROW, PARTICIPATING IN SOME STRATEGIC KEY PROJECTS, CONTRIBUTING TO ENERGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT, AS WELL AS IN THE TRANSITION TOWARDS A MORE SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY”, EXPLAINS IGNACIO LEIRA, PROJECT CARGO DIVISION MANAGER AT TIBA IN MADRID. f The new tariff policy is generating great uncertainty in the logistics sector.
